The only other fact in connection with the tragedy of the Somme

which remains to be recorded is that the 15th and 16th Battalions

earned the battle honour" Ancre, 1916 " for the Regiment by being
in support at Thiepval during an attack from 14th to 17th November.
The curtain fell on the Battle of the Somme on 18th November,
1916 .
