regiments, as is inevitable in modern war. Many of them gained
decorations while serving
with
the Regiment, and so helped to
increase its lustre. As however they always fully identified themselves
with it, the regiments from which they were attached have not been
specified. On the other hand, where an officer of another regiment has
been appointed to command a battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers,
I have thought it right to state the fact.
